Arrival in Kathmandu airport and Hotel transfer;
Climbing Chulu West (6,419m) with Zambuling Trekking an exciting adventure. Just like Chulu East, it offers stunning views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak and Mt. Manaslu. Chulu West lies to the North of the Annapurna Range close to the famous Annapurna trekking trail. The convenient location makes this a great trip for trekkers who want to add a challenge to their trip. Technical difficulties are minimal on Chulu West but adverse snow conditions can make the ascent more demanding.
Other than a taste for adventure, climbers should have good overall physical fitness and the ability to walk 8 to 9 hours a day at high altitude. We provide an experienced Sherpa guide to accompany the climber to the top. Some basic knowledge in the use of crampons and ice axe is sufficient – we can advise you on how to prepare for your trip.
The approach to Chulu West diverges from the main trail to the Thorung La pass passing the village of Manang. Base camp is established in a small valley to the North. From base camp, the route follows a subsidiary North-West ridge that leads up to the main peak. An attempt to the peak and return can be done in a single day.
Chulu West peak is part of the Manang Himal. The eastern limit of Chulu East runs south from Chako Peak 6687 in a north-to-south direction along the Hunlung Khola, Nar Khola and Phu Khola. To the south the mountain is bounded by the Marsyangdi Khola and the Mesokanta La. Close-by peaks of the same range are Chulu Central, Chulu East and Chulu Far East. Identification can sometimes be difficult, especially in tricky weather conditions so that climbers have on occasion have ended up on a different summit than intended. In any case, it’s a mountaineering tradition to take pride in scaling the wrong peak. But don’t worry; you’ll have our experienced guide on your side.
Zambuling Trekking offers you a full board package including the climbing permit from the NMA and all other necessary logistics – from arrival in Kathmandu up to your departure. We organize your accommodation in Kathmandu as well as throughout your trek, our cooks freshly prepare you nutritious meals throughout the climbing period and experienced and professional trekking and climbing guides accompany you on the trek as well as the climb. In addition, we can organize any sightseeing in and around Kathmandu as well as the Pokhara valley. Upon your request, we can also offer only base camp service (including the climbing permit) where the climber may arrange all required logistics for any part of the climb above base camp.
The package can be flexibly adjusted to your requirements – feel free to contact us any time for suggestions and advice. We’d be happy to take you on this adventure.
